program help me?' Good question. Think of it this way: Every single
treatment option in Having Health Now has been used for thousands of
years. There is a reason why meditation, yoga, nutrition, herbs, and
acupuncture have been around for so long and why they are so popular
today. Any one of these approaches can work miracles if they are used
skillfully. They have stood the test of time because they have helped
literally billions of people. I have discovered (personally and
clinically) that the combination of all of these ancient healing
practices can lead to a heightened sense of wellbeing that is far beyond
what most of us ever experience. They truly have a synergistic effect
when used in combination. And they are all the most natural and safe
forms of medicine available to us.
You will learn how to use food as
medicine so your dietary choices will reflect optimal health. You will
learn how to use your breath as a powerful tool for boosting energy,
heightening awareness, and calming stress. You will discover the enormous
health benefits of power and hatha yoga. And you will receive a highly
effective and gentle form of acupuncture that combines the 5 element
and 8 principle approaches. Most importantly, you will learn how to
use mindfulness as a gateway to feeling more connected with yourself
and others, which will benefit you for as long as you live.
Why is mindfulness so important?
Without mindfulness, I believe that it is nearly
impossible to make authentic lifestyle changes and initiate the healing
process. Mindfulness enables us to be fully present and have a direct
relationship with our lives. We have a lot of ideas about who we should
be, what we should look like, and how we are going to become that person.
For most of us, however, we never quite get there. We always have that
elusive 10 pounds to lose. We never feel quite as good as we would like.
We never fully accept our bodies as they are. Being attached to feelings
of ‘not enough’ will NEVER enable you to make the changes you truly
need to make. Mindfulness allows us to know what we really need. This
is very different from what we think we want or what our judging mind
is telling us should happen. If we know what we need, we will automatically
be more capable of taking the right steps to actualize a balanced and
successful life.
We will be starting off with a foundation of inner
fullness rather than guilt, self-hatred, or shame. We can initiate change
as a reflection of this fullness, which provokes inspiration and confidence.
Yes, there is still discipline required, but mindfulness enables us
to relate to ourselves in a no-fail, spacious, and compassionate manner.
Mindfulness is a way of trusting ourselves to make the right choices
for our health and wellbeing. When it comes to lifestyle choices, we
tend to look at things in a black and white way. Either we are ‘dieting’
and eating salads, counting calories, and saying ‘no’ to ourselves,
or we are indulging in whatever we want. Either we are on an exercise
program that we stick with religiously or we don’t exercise at all.
Sound familiar? Once again, mindfulness is all about having a direct
relationship with what we really need and trusting that in each moment.
It isn’t about giving up everything you like. It isn’t about torturing
yourself with diet and exercise gimmicks.
It’s all about finding balance
and living in moderation forever. This is the key to healthy
living and this is exactly what I help my patients to discover. There
is nothing more liberating than committing to a balanced and mindful
relationship with your life. This is not something that most of us have
been taught to do, which is why so many of us are struggling with our
health and quality of life. Living in balance is a dynamic process that
takes a daily commitment. Sorry to be the one to say it, but there really
aren’t any shortcuts to this. It takes a lot of strength, courage, and
self-care to find this within yourself on a daily basis. But it is possible.
How do I develop a mindful relationship
with myself?
Well, that is exactly what you will discover
in Having Health Now. For thousands of years, meditation and yoga have
been used as the primary tools to develop mindfulness. Please refer
to the pages on meditation and yoga for more information. (coming soon!)
Using these practices as a foundation, you will learn how to bring mindfulness
to your eating habits, exercise habits, relationships, and your life
in general.
Can I really do this?
Absolutely! I believe that we are not on this
planet to struggle. Our natural state is one of balance and mindfulness.
The hardest part is reconditioning ourselves so we can make contact
with this natural state that is already within us. In this very moment,
there is a rich opportunity to let go of harmful patterns and commit
to health and wellbeing.
The 10 weeks is centered around the primary goal
of achieving optimal health.
My goal is to offer you a set of tools that will
enable you to experience a level of wellness that is far beyond anything
you have experienced. Most people are living with an average state of
health. They feel OK, they are getting by, they are able to function…
But are they truly thriving? Do they feel alive in their bodies and
full of energy and clarity? My guess would be NO!! Read my article on
achieving optimal
health to see what I mean by this.
By using ancient, safe, natural practices that have stood the test of
time, you will be embarking on this journey toward optimal wellness.
Having Health Now. A powerful concept. A revolutionary program that can make it reality.
