Meet Kevin Doherty

Kevin Doherty, L.Ac., Dipl.Ac., MSOM, is a  licensed, NCCAOM certified acupuncturist in  private practice in Superior, Co. and the staff  acupuncturist at Exempla  Good  Samaritan  hospital in Lafayette, Co. Kevin  received a  bachelor’s degree in Eastern  religion  and  psychology at Naropa university in  1997  and a  Master’s degree in Oriental  Medicine  from  Southwest Acupuncture College  in 2001. He  completed a two-year continuing  education  program with Lonny Jarrett, M.Ac. in  2002.  Based on this training, Kevin offers a  unique  synthesis of the five element and eight  principle  models of acupuncture in his practice.  He is an  accomplished herbalist and is  thoroughly trained  in nutrition as well. Kevin  has  studied  meditation and yoga with many respected teachers over the past 13 years. Kevin is also a teacher of counseling and communication to acupuncture students at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver, Co. and a seminar leader to many acupuncturists in the Denver metro area. He teaches extensively on Chinese herbology, pulse diagnosis, 5 element acupuncture, and practice management. Kevin created Having Health Now in 2002 because he wanted to offer his patients self-care tools that help them to achieve optimal health. He focuses on using mindfulness, not will power, to make lifestyle changes and heal chronic health problems. Kevin is a natural teacher and considers education to be an essential dimension of the healing process. He enjoys public speaking and has written a variety of articles on alternative health for various publications. He has also recorded a guided meditation CD that is available on his website.
